Disclaimer: Kinda new at this! Bear with me...
Eh...so for my first blog I went with the easiest topic in the book...chocolates! To all you non-chocolate lovers, just replace the word 'chocolates' in this blog with something that you love, something that is your guilty pleasure..
Often when we face tough-no make that complicated-situations in life, we resort to something that can soothe us. For me, its chocolates. They give you the moral support by imparting amazing sweet taste and stimulating your taste buds so that you can cherish the intensity of their lavishness. It almost makes me wonder, why do we not seek human support and rather delve in unhealthy (yet amazingly delicious, mind you) consumptions? The answer is pretty simple..chocolates give you exactly what you need. They don't constantly talk and sidetrack your sad story by indulging in their pain, they give you velvety texture on the tip of your tongue. They dont judge your situation, they melt into your mouth. They don't give you false irrational hopes of things getting 'better', chocolates merely give the momentary satisfaction and happiness; precisely what you need when you're at your most vulnerable.
And hey, let's be honest. We all know that when you had a fallout with your mom based on your overly excessive 'texting hours', you didn't go rant it to your bestie who kept repeating the mantra of 'share it to feel better' or you didn't choose to find comfort in your boyfriend or girlfriend to bitch about your mom and listen to sweet nothings in return. You went straight to the fridge to find much needed solace in the 3 squares of Cadbury Crackle left; or for you posh people out there who can't succumb to the highly scrumptious Cadbury, your triangles of Toblerones or your fiercely rich Ferrero Rochers; and for you dark chocolate lovers, the silky piece of Lindt Noir or the buttery and nutty Bournville.
Its funny how consoling a small piece of brown sweet could be. Sadly, most of our guilty pleasures are packed with calories and fat. That's what 'guilty pleasure' means for a chocoholic : kha le beta..abhi ke liye thoos le! and then when things have found their equilibrium, cry about that extra kilo you put on after indulging in your 'mazedaar' chocolate and blame it on god! (why you do this to me god!)
(okay I'm going to have a girly moment now. just warning!) Chocolate is like the inanimate equivalent to the hot poster you see of shirtless Channing Tatum. ( Wait can we just take a moment to appreciate that fine body...Thank you) You know it's bad for you but you can't help it! Like if my situation is not precisely horrible I am not providing justice to the role of chocolates in our life. Similarly well if you are already committed, the poster of Mr. Tatum shirtless is also guilty indulgence, and for single people, heck fine!Stare at man meat all you want! (Don't say I didn't warn you).
But my hidden notion behind this is for all of us to unite on the event of having a guilty pleasure. And don't even say you don't have one. It could be playing and spending on a game of Clash of Clans, (well we spend to avenge our wounded prides when mom irrelevantly shouts; but hey that's just an excuse to get more gems) or watching Shin Chan episodes back to back for 3 straight hours, or hogging on any chocolate left in the house, be it on atomic level. And don't deny it! You know it's true.
Coming back to the central topic, chocolates stimulate pleasure hormones, that make you feel for that few seconds that life is amazing and you love everyone. (Data not based on any sort of scientific basis, merely fictional and something I would like to believe.) And hey there are no false signs because chocolate never guaranteed anything better in the future! It's just sitting there with it's corner now traveling down your oesophagus and giving you immense pleasure for the amount of time you eat it for.
For all you non-chocolate lovers, I hope this is even little inspiring to you so you resort to this little heaven packed in a plastic when shit goes down..
Or even when it doesn't really. Ain't nobody told ya to have chocolate only when everything is positively wrong! Chomp down 5 Stars or Galaxies or Ferrero Rochers WHENEVER YOU FEEL LIKE! Chocolates never came with conditions or parameters so enjoy!(just mind the protruding belly)
Oh and extremely important instructions:
How to have a chocolate?
Ans:
Like a baby!
Step 1. Open the wrapper gently and take in the aroma that erases all the worry and the crease lines on your eyebrow.
Step 2: Remove a small piece of beauty so that the anticipation quotient is ignited and excitement is at its peak.
Step 3: Gently place it on your tongue and savor the richness with the creamy soft (or nutty texture). It is safe to say you are in heaven right now.
Step 4: Let it drip out from the corner of your mouth and take a little more this time in your mouth..until you can't resist; then just hobble it down.
Step 5: Lick your fingers dry and then clean them on the shirt of the person beside you. Oh don't forget to smile like a malicious child planning something exhilarating!
Remember to never share it...if someone is sharing something so precious with you, might as well marry them.
Chocolate is BAE! Feel free to comment and tell me how you tasted chocolate the next time!
